#london #startups #leaders
London is considered to be the world‘s leading city of fintech startups. Being the place where banking business was created, it has long been considered as the financial technology capital of the world and inspired leading players in the financial industry.
The London Fintech ecosystem is widely recognized as one of the most established and rapidly developing finance and technology ecosystems. It is positioned within the world’s largest financial hub and contains some of the most innovative and recognizable Fintech startups, such as Transferwise, Monzo, or Funding Circle.
Growing thanks to an access to capital and innovation

London’s financial sector is uniquely located alongside a booming technology sector and is also housed within an environment with attractive investment incentives such as the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), which provides initial income tax relief of 50% on start-up investments up to £100,000.
London’s fintech industry enjoys strong backing from venture capital investment. Over a third (39%) of European venture capital funding goes to London fintech startups. Investment allows them to test and run analysis on their products and boost innovation.
E-money firms grew by 51% between 2017 to 2018, and it is predicted that by 2021 over half of payment service providers in the UK will be digital-only. Innovations like Open Banking, AI, and Blockchain are boosting the industry’s growth.
Creating a strong and effective fintech network

The UK Treasury has announced on June 10th 2019 the launching of the FinTech Alliance, an organisation that will aim to unite the financial technology sector through bringing together the strengths of the UK’s fintech ecosystem in one digital marketplace.
It will provide access to people, firms and information, including connections to investors, policy and regulatory updates, plus the ability to attract and hire candidates. The presence of influential business membership organisations, such as London First, further establish London as one of the best cities in the world to do business in.
